      Guided tours of “Roy Lichtenstein and Pop Art”

      From tomorrow on, don’t miss out and get a spot on the free guided tours we are organizing within the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition, in Centro Colombo.

      The visits will be conducted by personalities connected to the world of the Comic Strip, explaining the influences of the genre in the work of Lichtenstein.

      Amadora BD is an International Comic Book Festival, one of the most recognized in Europe and with a bigger dimension in Portugal, currently in its 29th edition.

      Program:

      João Fonte Santa – Plastic artist – September 12th and 19th  – 7:00 p.m.

      Nelson Dona – Director of Amadora BD – September 13th and 20th  – 7:00 pm.

      Nuno Saraiva – Illustrator – September 14th and 21st  – 7p.m.

      Comic Strip and Roy Lichtenstein

      As of today, we invite you to visit the comic strip exhibition curated by the Amadora BD Festival, as part of the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition currently on show at Centro Colombo’s event square.

      The exhibition presents 30 different artists, from several generations, among them João Fazenda, Ricardo Cabral and Joana Afonso.

      Roy Lichtenstein was one of the most prominent artists that appropriated the comic strip as a reference and inspiration.

      On show until September 23, between 10:00 am and midnight. Free admission.

      “ARO”, Contemporary Circus Performance

      As part of the inauguration of the exhibition “The Circus of Fernand Léger” on September 6, State of the Art invited the National Institute of Circus Arts to create a show in homage of French artist Léger.

      The exclusive performance – ARO – created a direct connection between Léger and the circus. An encounter of circus acrobatics around the circus’ circle, circle of friends, family circle, circle of traditions, a circle of “Aro”.

      The National Institute of Circus Arts is the first official circus training structure in northern Portugal.

      “The Circus of Fernand Léger”

      On September 6, the exhibition “The Circus of Fernand Léger” inaugurated in NorteShopping. Throughout the 52 works, State of the Art invites you to plunge into the heart of circus action, in a parade with trapeze artists and magicians, like a cinematic journey, punctuated by eruptions of images with kaleidoscope effect.The exhibition is on show until October 22, in the Temporary Museum prepared for this purpose, on the event square of NorteShopping.

      Alongside this exhibition are presented some works by Portuguese artist, José de Guimarães, allusive to circus art, until 20th September.

      The exhibitions are open every day, between 10am and midnight. Free admission.

      “Top50 of the World Press Carton”

      Only a few hours left until the inauguration of the exhibition “Top50 2018 World Press Cartoon” at Centro Colombo. Publications and authors from 27 countries from all continents will be on show, as well as this year’s Grand Prix winner, the cartoon “Freedom of Expression” by Italian Marilena Nardi. We’re counting with you at 10:00 a.m.!

      Exhibition “Roy Lichtenstein and Pop Art”

      On June 19th, yet another edition of “Art Arrived at Colombo” started. For this year’s edition, State of the Art presents 41 works by Roy Lichtenstein, one of the most important protagonists of the Pop Art movement.

      Until September 23, you can admire some of the best-known works of the Pop world, in the Temporary Museum created on purpose, on the event square of Centro Colombo.

      Open daily, from 10am to midnight. Free admission.

      PETER PAN WITH RUY DE CARVALHO ON SHOW UNTIL DECEMBER

      The play “Peter Pan”, inspired by the paintings of Paula Rego, arrived at the Mirita Casimiro Municipal Theatre in Estoril, after a brief stop at Colombo Center in September. With an aesthetic faithful to the work of the artist, who inspired this adaptation of Miguel Graça, the show staged by Carlos Avilez marks the 52nd anniversary of the Experimental Theatre of Cascais.

      ISABEL MINHÓS MARTINS STORYTELLING SESSION

      The writer and founder of Planeta Tangerina was in Colombo for a reading session of her book “OINC! The Story of Prince Pig”, which features illustrations by Paula Rego. On September 16, State of the Art organized a free reading session of the book “OINC – The Story of the Prince Pig” by the author of the book, Isabel Minhós Martins, followed by a workshop for children.
